ORGANIC WOOL - TRAINING SCHEME

"Organic Wool Production - Is it for you?" is a new training initiative from TM Organics, to assist wool producers understand the current marketplace for organic wool, as well as the production requirements to grow fine fleece organically.

"Organic Wool Production - Is it for you?" is a one day practical and informative training program (subsidized by Farmbis for eligible attendees) to increase awareness of the rapidly growing global demand for organic wool and the major financial, environmental and sustainable production opportunities provided by this escalating demand.

Adelaide based Tim Marshall, one of Australia's leading organic agriculture experts is conducting the Organic Wool Production workshops. Tim has been actively involved in all aspects of the organic industry in Australia for more than 30 years, is a pioneer of organic certification in Australia and is well known as a writer, educator and organic consultant.

"There is a demonstrated need for organic wool in domestic and export markets, and price premiums of 10 - 15% for those able to meet the certification requirements of the organic market."

"Organic agriculture is one of the fastest growing areas of agriculture, being driven by 20%+ annual growth at retail level so the time is right for growers who are inclined towards sustainable production to consider how they might convert some, or all, of their property to organic production, to capture some of this expanding market," Tim Marshall said.

Tim will be joined during the day by a certified organic woolgrower so participants can gain direct, first hand knowledge.

The first workshops will be launched in South Australia and Western NSW in conjunction with Elders, with plans to roll out the program to other states in the next few months.
